Officer charged with voluntary manslaughter after fatal Upper Pottsgrove Twp. shooting
6abc Action News featured attorney Ken Fulginiti in its coverage of the voluntary manslaughter charge filed against Upper Pottsgrove Township Police Cpl. Sean Farrell following the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Glen Pysher IV in Montgomery County.
According to the report, Pysher had been out with friends before becoming confused while walking to another friend’s home and approaching the wrong residence. After homeowners called 911, Farrell arrived and encountered Pysher outside. Investigators said body-camera footage showed Pysher with his hands raised as he continued walking toward the officer. Farrell then fired his weapon, striking Pysher twice in the chest. Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele said Pysher was unarmed and that the circumstances did not justify the use of deadly force.
Fulginiti, who represents Pysher’s family, challenged Farrell’s account of the encounter and emphasized the importance of reviewing additional evidence. He said he wants to obtain video and audio from the police cruiser and the residence where the shooting occurred. He also questioned why less-lethal options, including a Taser or baton, were not used.
The coverage highlights Fulginiti’s role in representing the Pysher family as the circumstances surrounding the shooting continue to be examined.
