Recent Recalls & Safety Warnings for Consumers and Families

NOTE: Several of these warnings are for holiday products that were most likely intended as gifts—many of these may still be unopened.

 

Forward Farms Grass-Fed Ground Beef (E. coli O26)

Issue: Potential contamination with E. coli O26 detected in raw ground beef.

Hazard: Severe gastrointestinal illness (bloody diarrhea, cramps) and complications like hemolytic uremic syndrome, especially in children and immunocompromised individuals.

Recall/Alert: USDA FSIS recall on Dec 27, 2025 — active into January 2026.

Remedy: Consumers should not eat the meat. Discard or return to retailer for refund.

 

Choceur Holiday Bark (Allergen Recall – Expanded)

Issue: Mislabeling/packaging error — pecans and wheat undeclared on some Aldi holiday bark products.

Hazard: Life-threatening allergic reactions for those with nut or wheat allergies.

Recall/Alert: Expanded FDA recall notice (Dec 2025).

Remedy: Do not consume; discard or return for refund.

 

Country Vet & Heartland Harvest Dog Biscuits (Salmonella)

Issue: Dog biscuits contaminated with Salmonella bacteria (pet & human risk).

Hazard: Salmonella infection — symptoms include nausea, diarrhea, fever; can spread from pets to humans.

Recall/Alert: Issued Dec 24, 2025; several states affected.

Remedy: Stop use, dispose or return for refund; pets and humans should watch for symptoms.

 

U.S. Ground Beef E. coli Recall — Local Retail Impact

Issue: Additional reporting on raw beef recall above; confirmation of distribution and safety guidance.

Hazard: Same E. coli O26 contamination hazard as Item #1.

Reminder: Check use/freeze-by dates and establishment codes (“EST 2083”).

 

Shredded Cheese Metal Contamination Recall (Extended Alert)

Issue: Shredded cheese products may contain metal fragments.

Hazard: Risk of cuts or internal injury if ingested.

Recall/Alert: Ongoing investigations and mixed brand impacts reported in late Dec 2025/Jan 2026.

Remedy: Do not eat affected products; return or discard for refund.

Shredded Cheese (Multiple Retailers) – Retail Spread

Issue: Same underlying recall as above, but sold at Aldi, Target, Walmart.

Hazard: Metal fragments contamination.

Remedy: Consumers should check labels and discard or return products that match recall lot lists.

 

Other Current Advisory: Holiday Bark Packaging Error

Issue: FDA expanded list of affected holiday bark lots due to both peanut and wheat mislabelling.

Hazard: Life-threatening allergic reaction risk.

Remedy: Discontinue use and return products.
