Some Recent Recalls & Safety Warnings for Consumers and Families

Blood Pressure Medication Nationwide

Issue: More than 11,000 bottles of bisoprolol-HCTZ were recalled for cross contamination.

Hazard: The 2.5-milligram and 6.25-milligram medications affected are bisoprolol fumarate and hydrochlorothiazide tablets distributed in 30-count, 100-count and 500-count bottles. Manufactured by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited, the recalled medications include lot codes “17232401” or “17240974” and expiration dates of “11/2025” or “05/2026

Remedy: Check your blood pressure medication. If it matches the recall information, contact your prescriber or pharmacist for a replacement

CreateOn Pip-Cubes 

Issue: Magnets inside CreateOn Crayola “pip-Cubes” can become loose if seams separate, allowing small high-powered magnets to detach.

Hazard: Swallowed magnets can attract inside the body, causing internal tearing, blockages, infection, or life-threatening injuries.

Remedy: Stop using immediately. Keep out of children’s reach. Contact CreateOn for a free replacement set and use the provided return materials.

Shredded Cheese Products (Various Retailer Labels)

Issue: Potential metal-fragment contamination in shredded cheese produced by Great Lakes Cheese Co.

Hazard: Metal fragments could cause lacerations of the mouth, throat, or digestive tract if ingested.

Remedy: Do not consume — check UPC/batch/“sell-by” date lists by FDA/retailer; discard or return for refund; follow retailer recall instructions.

Ozark Trail Tabletop 1-Burner Butane Camping Stoves

Issue: Stove can explode or catch fire — linked to manufacturing defects.

Hazard: Fire or explosion risk; burn injuries (incidents include second-degree burns).

Remedy: Stop using immediately. Return the stove to the retailer (e.g. Walmart) for a full refund.

Magnetic Fidget-Spinner Sets (Sold on Amazon by Anzmtosn)

Issue: Contains loose magnets — violates mandatory toy-standards. 

Hazard: Serious risk of magnet ingestion by children — can cause intestinal perforation, blockage, poisoning or death. 

Remedy: Immediately stop using and remove from children. Dispose of the product, take a photo of disposal, and contact seller for full refund. 

Stainless-Steel Travel Mugs – Switchback & Trigger Action (by Stanley)

Issue: Defective lid design — hazard of burn from hot liquids escaping. While this was a late 2024 recall, many of these mugs are believed to still be in use due in part to the massive size of the recall of these popular mugs

Hazard: Risk of burn injuries to user.

Remedy: Do not use the recalled mugs. Contact Stanley for a free replacement lid (shipping included).

Infant / Baby Sleep Products & Gear (High Chairs, Loungers, etc.) – Multiple Items (online retailers including Amazon)

Issue: Failure to meet federal safety standards — hazards including fall, entrapment, asphyxiation. 

Hazard: Child injury risk — falls, entrapment, suffocation.

Remedy: Discontinue use of any of the recalled items; follow recall instructions for refund or safe disposal.
